VetPlus, a global leader in veterinary nutraceuticals, has launched a new brand and extensive new range at this year’s BSAVA Congress in Birmingham.

The Vetschoice range takes the nutraceutical specialists into a broader area of animal welfare with a total of 14 products ranging from dental care to ear cleaners and odour removers. The new range will be sold exclusively through veterinary practices and will be supported by a major investment from the company in Point of Sale stands for all participating practices.

VetPlus Chairman David Haythornthwaite explained; “We have built strong partnerships with our customers on the basis of our ‘100% commitment to the independent veterinary practice’. Our objective with the Vetschoice range is to introduce our customers to a stream of revenue for pet care products that at the moment is the exclusive domain of pet shops and more particularly to the pet supermarkets”.

“We are also conscious that a number of companies in the veterinary nutraceutical market have increasingly moved to sell directly to consumers or via pet shops and or internet pharmacies; a trend clearly evidenced by their recent presence and active selling at Crufts”.

“The depth of the in-house Research & Development resource at VetPlus means that we have been able to draw upon nearly 20 years of expertise in the nutraceutical market and now deploy it in new product categories while remaining committed to UK manufacture and from our headquarters in Lytham, Lancashire”.

“The introduction of the Vetshoice brand is designed to communicate a range

endorsed by vets but also that we have chosen vets as our trusted partner and sole route to market. The VetPlus brand will remain firmly associated with our position as A Global Leader in Veterinary Nutraceuticals”.

The products will be sold via the existing VetPlus salesforce and be merchandised from a highly visible Point of Sale display that will be provided by the company to all veterinary practices that choose to stock the range. Vetschoice will initially be sold only in the UK with no plans to expand internationally at this time.

Haythornthwaite concluded “This is the biggest single expansion in our product range in the history of the company and marks a significant investment for us. I am confident that our commitment to the independent veterinary sector will benefit both us and our customers through our next stage of growth”.
