In the November issue of Total Grooming, it was stated that the City & Guilds LCGI in dog grooming no longer exists and has been replaced by the City & Guilds Professional Recognition Awards (PRAs) for which there is no direct dog grooming route. Whilst it’s true that PRAs have replaced the former route to LCGI, there is still a route for dog groomers who wish access this qualification; namely through the British Dog Groomers’ Association Higher Diploma in Dog Grooming. It has been confirmed by City & Guilds that groomers passing five modules of their Higher Diploma and having produced a portfolio of appropriate evidence will be eligible to apply for a PRA. LCGI is offered candidates who successfully achieve a Level 4 PRA. Once all ten modules of the BDGA Higher Diploma are passed and BDGA membership is held, the learner can apply to join the Guild of Master Groomers. We hope that this clarifies the situation.
