Premium pet food manufacturer Fish4Dogs will be the primary sponsor for the 2017 Canine Behaviour and Training Society (TCBTS) Conference, in Coventry, this October.

Entitled, The Dog’s Nose Knows, the theme of the event will centre around dogs’ heightened sense of smell and how this can be used in general training and intuitive detection.

The conference is suitable for anyone with an interest in dogs and particularly scent work – be they professionals or students committed to continuous professional development, or enthusiastic dog owners, who wish to enhance the relationship they have with their dog.

Speakers at the day-long event include Dr Claire Guest and Pat Tagg. Claire has been involved in training for more than 20 years and has been involved in training dogs in the detection of human disease through scent since 2002.

She will talk about her work with Medical Detection Dogs (MDD) which is involved in range of trials exploring dogs’ ability to locate cancers, blood diseases and neurological conditions.

Pat has over 35 years’ experience of training companion and agricultural animals and specialises in resolving behavioural issues. She owns Dogtaggs which offers training in intrinsic canine skills. Pat will speak about her approach to rehabilitation and prevention of behaviour problems.

The conference is being held on 1 October, at the Hilton Hotel, Coventry, and can be attended by society members and non-members.
