Groomania is fast becoming an unmissable date on the grooming calendar and this year’s event proved to be a big hit with British groomers.
Groomania took place on 28th and 29th September this year in Kortrijk, Belgium and was well attended by groomers from all over the world.
In addition to the grooming competition, which comprises all levels from beginners to champions, there is an extensive educational grooming conference, which features seminars and demonstrations by some of the world’s top groomers. The practical aspect is focused on real life grooming problems and situations and is of interest to many groomers and students who aspire to elevate their professional competence.
Groomania invites some of the top international Groomers in their specialist fields to demonstrate and expand their techniques.
This year 24 demonstrations in show and commercial grooming by 20 of the top international groomers in their field took place.
Each seminar consisted of four tables giving a two hour demonstration of a breed style where groomers can freely walk from one demonstration to the other and ask questions and watch different techniques which are clearly explained in three languages.
The advantage of a workshop is the hands on opportunity of watching a demonstration and then just after the demo applying the new techniques and style your self under the guidance of the expert.
This year the world famous Anders Rosell provided a poodle demo.
Shaunna Bernardin attended this year and said: “Groomania was a very special weekend. So many friends from around the world coming together, and their information and their knowledge, performing at their very best… It only proves to me that our industry is strong and only getting stronger.”

Groomania 2014
Organiser, Kitty Dekeersgieter, said: “Judging from the feedback we received, Groomania was considered to be a fantastic success.
“Over 200 groomers competed for a range of 40 different titles, and prizes donated by 16 sponsors in classes ranging from beginner to open and champion level.
“The competition was judged by a panel of nine renowned judges who came from all over the world. And, with the main prize of a paid* trip to Las Vegas to compete in the Las Vegas Super Zoo Jackpot Contest where you can win $10 000, it was naturally a coveted trophy.” (* Sponsored by Transgroom and Super Zoo).
Running concurrently with the competitions were 24 seminars on a wide variety of breeds and styles by 20 internationally acclaimed top groomers including a workshop by the world famous groomer Anders Rossel from Sweden on Poodles.
On the first day there were six competitions at various levels.
In the evening there was an 80’s dinner party which gave rise to some interesting styles by the groomers who really let their hair down and danced to the music of the famous rock coverband “Cups and Plates.”
On the Sunday morning there were a further four competitions along with the famous free model dog kids competition*. More than 20 children were able to brush, scissor and create the model dog to their own criteria. (*sponsored by Transgroom)
After lunch Groomania played host to the prestigious Oster International Tournament of Champions
The Groomania 2014 congress certainly lived up to its slogan of ‘GROOMERS UNITED KNOWLEDGE SHARED.’
